Use window blinds:

Adjust blinds and window coverings on windows that receive direct sun. Keep windows and doors closed to prevent the loss of cooled air.

Use a power strip:

Plug all radios, fans and chargers for cell phones and other personal electronics into a power strip that can be turned off when not in use. These devices draw energy 24/7, even when switched off.

Maintain indoor temperatures:

Dress comfortably for the weather. Adjust your layers of clothing before adjusting the thermostat.

Inspect and maintain HVAC:

Conduct regular inspections and consistently maintain equipment and controls for HVAC systems.

Reduce water use: Install low-flow faucet aerators and shower heads to save hot water heating costs.
