Financial Incentives — New Xcel Energy Rebates

Xcel Energy introduces new prescriptive lighting rebates

Stairwell Fixtures with Integrated Occupancy Sensors and ENERGY STAR®-qualified LED Downlight Retrofit Fixtures have been added to the prescriptive rebate program at Xcel Energy.

Stairwell fixtures are most commonly used in stairwells, but are also used in hallways or anywhere that a minimal amount of lighting is required at all times.

The prescriptive rebate amount for this type of fixture:

  • Stairwell fixture with integrated                        $25 per fixture
    occupancy sensor or step-dimming ballast

This rebate applies to lighting projects which utilize either fluorescent fixtures that have one or two 4′ T8 lamps that are controlled, and a 2′ T8 lamp that is on continuously; or LED fixtures that are 20W to 30W with step-dimming capabilities that replaces a fixture with two 4′ T8 lamps.

ENERGY STAR now offers what is considered a hybrid/lamp fixture or downlight retrofit fixture. This product includes the housing for a recessed down lamp, however, unlike fixtures that need to be hardwired, this fixture can be installed using an Edison or GU base. The cost of this category of products is substantially lower than hardwired fixtures.

The prescriptive rebate amount for this type of fixture:

  • LED Screw-in Retrofit Fixture 25W or less       $15 per fixture

The new rebate is for fixtures that are used in both retrofit and new construction projects. The fixtures are listed on the Energy Star LED Commercial Downlight luminaire list as the Fixture Type named “Downlight Solid State Retrofit”.

Projects invoiced after 6/1/2012 may qualify for the new rebates. Rebate cannot exceed 60% of project cost. See the Xcel Energy rebate application for details.
